Nicosia to Larnaca by Bus (Intercity 42)

Nicosia and Larnaca are linked by a single public coach: Intercity route 42. No change of bus. You board in the capital centre and ride into Larnaca town.

This is the city-to-city corridor. It is not the Kapnos airport shuttle, and it does not go to Larnaca Airport. Those trips have their own guides linked below.

• From Nicosia centre? Board at Dionysios Solomos Square. Look for Intercity 42 toward Larnaca.
• Where do you get off in Larnaca? At Archiep. Makariou C´ Ave. - Filiou Tsigaridi, the coach terminus in town. Through stops such as Griva Digeni exist, but the run ends on Makariou.
• How often? Often half-hourly or better on weekdays; thinner on Sundays. Check the live tables rather than memorising a clock pattern.

Where to catch it in Nicosia

The Intercity city terminus is Dionysios Solomos Square: walking distance to Ledra Street and the old town. Coaches toward Larnaca leave from here under short name 42.

Pay the driver when you board. This ticket is separate from any Nicosia city bus Motion single you may already have used to reach the square.

Where you arrive in Larnaca

The coach finishes at Archiep. Makariou C´ Ave. - Filiou Tsigaridi. That stop serves both directions of route 42: trips from Nicosia terminate here, and trips back to Nicosia start here.

From there you are in central Larnaca. For the seafront (Foinikoudes) or the airport, use LPT city buses. The airport locals are covered in the Larnaca Airport to the city guide.

Journey time is about an hour to a bit over an hour end to end, depending on traffic and the day's timetable. Use the live tables and the trip planner rather than a single printed minute count.

Coming back to Nicosia

Same route number, opposite direction. Board again at Makariou / Filiou Tsigaridi and ride to Solomos Square.

Sunday service is thinner than a weekday, but the corridor does not disappear. Always check the return before you commit to a same-day trip.

Airport vs city (do not mix them up)

Search results often blend "Nicosia to Larnaca" with "Nicosia to Larnaca Airport":

• City centre to city centre: this page (Intercity 42).
• Airport to Nicosia: Kapnos or 425 + 42.
• Airport into Larnaca town: route 425 and friends.

Kapnos drops at a suburban Nicosia station on Kyrenias Avenue, not at Solomos Square. Route 42 is the one that puts you in the centre without a further coach change.
