Cyprus Bus Fares & the Motion Card (by Region)

Cyprus does not have one bus fare for the whole island. Urban prices are set by district operators. The Motion card works across many of them, but the amount taken for a single city ride still depends on where you are standing.

This page is the regional map. Exact singles load from our shared fare data into the panels below, so when an operator updates a table the numbers here move with it.

Quick answer

• In Nicosia or Larnaca city buses? You are on the Motion tariff: cash and card are priced differently. Night singles cost more.
• In Paphos, Limassol, Ayia Napa, Protaras or Paralimni? You pay a flat urban single (higher after the evening changeover), whether cash or card e-wallet.
• On an airport shuttle (Kapnos or Limassol Airport Express)? Private ticket. Motion urban rates do not apply.
• Between cities on Intercity coaches? Separate onboard ticket, on top of any urban leg you already rode.
• Moving between districts for a week? Look at all-cities passes and the operator period tickets, not a stack of singles.

Nicosia and Larnaca (Motion / NPT and LPT)

Cyprus Public Transport sets the urban table for Nicosia and Larnaca city buses. The live policy on their site is dated 3 August 2026. Paper cash and plastic Motion cards are different prices. A personalised discount card is a further tier for people who qualify.

Buy cash from the driver, or tap a Motion card. The same Motion product is used on both districts' urban routes. It does not make Paphos or Limassol charge the same single.

Paphos, Limassol and Famagusta district (flat urban)

These three operators publish a flat urban single. There is no separate cheaper "Motion card urban" price the way Nicosia and Larnaca show one.

Paphos (OSYPA)

Used on city routes including the Paphos Airport buses.

Limassol (EMEL)

Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paralimni (OSEA)

If a travel site quotes a single Motion number for "Cyprus buses" and then applies it to Coral Bay or Nissi Beach, treat that as outdated.

Airport shuttles

Kapnos and Limassol Airport Express sell their own tickets. They are useful, and they are not urban Motion singles.

Intercity coaches and all-cities passes

Intercity Buses Ltd tickets are sold on the coach and priced by corridor. Expect a few euros per leg, separate from the urban single you may have paid to reach the stop. All-cities day, weekly and monthly passes exist for people hopping districts. Operators also sell their own period tickets. Amounts and rules change on the operator sites; we keep the pancyprian pass figures in the same fare file as the urban panels, and we do not paste a second static table into this article.

What a Motion card is (and is not)

A Motion card is a reloadable smart card accepted on the urban networks that support it. In Nicosia and Larnaca it usually beats paper cash for a single. In Paphos, Limassol and the Famagusta district the urban single is already flat, so the card is mainly convenience and period products, not a different day rate.

It does not turn Kapnos or LAE into Motion urban rides. It does not replace an Intercity ticket on its own.

Which panel should I trust?

1. Stand in a district. Open the matching fare panel above.
2. If you are on a named airport shuttle, use the shuttle panel, not the urban one.
3. If a blog still lists March 2026 Nicosia cash figures, ignore it. Our Nicosia and Larnaca panel follows the August 2026 CPT table.
